This Privacy Policy describes how Lutarea ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the mobile application Your Pantry (the "App") for Apple iOS and iPadOS. The App is associated with the bundle identifier com.lutarea.yourpantry.
1. Summary
Your Pantry is designed to store and process your data on your device. We do not operate our own backend database that receives the contents of your records for advertising or resale. The App does not sync your live database through Apple CloudKit; optional backup uses iCloud Drive files you control. The App does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the current planned design. When you scan a barcode, the App sends that barcode from your device to Open Food Facts to look up the product (see section 4).
2. Data we process
Depending on how you use the App, categories of information may include:
- Your records — products, quantities, storage locations, expiry dates, allergen profiles and the running-low list.
- App settings — theme, language, onboarding state, and similar preferences stored locally.
- Optional backups — JSON (and related) files you export to Lutarea BACKUPS / Your Pantry Backups in iCloud Drive or a folder you choose.
3. Where data stays
Primary storage is local on your device (app sandbox). Optional user-facing backups use the shared iCloud Drive container iCloud.com.lutarea.backups when available. We do not receive those files on Lutarea servers in the current design.
4. Third-party data sources
When you scan a barcode, the App requests the product from Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) directly from your device. Open Food Facts can see the barcode and your IP address, as with any web request. The App sends no account data and no other information from your pantry.
Product data comes from Open Food Facts, a community database available under the Open Database License (ODbL); product records are attributed to Open Food Facts contributors. Product photos are shown by link and are not stored in your backups.
5. Permissions
The App may request system permissions you approve (for example camera for barcode scanning, notifications for expiry reminders, photo library, or iCloud Drive access). You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings.
6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). Do not provide personal information about children through the App beyond what you choose to keep on your own device.
7. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do.
