This Privacy Policy describes how Lutarea ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the mobile application Your Tasks (the "App") for Apple iOS and iPadOS. The App uses the bundle identifier com.lutarea.yourtasks; the optional home screen widget extension uses com.lutarea.yourtasks.TodayWidget.
1. Summary
Your Tasks is designed to store and process your productivity data on your device. Your live task database (SwiftData) is not synced to Lutarea servers or to CloudKit. When you export a backup, the App may write JSON files to iCloud Drive → Lutarea BACKUPS (Apple's shared container for Lutarea apps on your Apple ID) or to a folder you choose in Settings; Lutarea does not receive the contents of those files on its own servers. We do not operate our own backend database for core app content in order to sell advertising profiles based on your tasks, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.
2. Data we process
Depending on how you use the App, categories of information may include:
- Tasks and planning data — titles, notes, dates, completion state, projects, sections, labels, daily templates and instances, Someday lists and cards, inbox items, and similar fields you enter.
- Attachments and links — files or images you attach, and URLs you save, processed locally on device storage managed by the App.
- Notes and boards — content you create in the notes area of the App.
- Security settings — preferences such as app lock, biometric use, and privacy cover for the app switcher; biometric templates are handled by the operating system, not sent to us.
- First-launch onboarding (optional) — on first open the App may show a short in-app tutorial (text and system icons only, no photos or camera). A flag that you finished or skipped it is stored only on your device so the tutorial is not shown again; we do not receive this flag on Lutarea servers.
- Calendar-related data — if you use features that create or interact with calendar events via Apple EventKit, the system shares only what you confirm with Apple's permission prompts.
- Import and export — if you import from other apps (for example Trello) or export a backup, data is read, written, or converted on your device. Exported JSON backups may be stored in your iCloud Drive Lutarea BACKUPS container or in a folder you pick; those files remain under your control.
- Optional iCloud Drive backup location — when iCloud is available, export saves JSON backups to the shared Lutarea container on your Apple ID (shown in Files as Lutarea BACKUPS). You may choose another folder instead. If iCloud is unavailable, export and import use the system file picker without creating an app-local backup folder on the device.
- Home screen widget (optional) — if you add the "Today" widget, the App writes a limited on-device snapshot (for example daily and task completion counts and titles of incomplete tasks for today) into an Apple App Group container shared only between the App and its widget extension. This snapshot is not sent to Lutarea servers. Widget content may be visible on your home screen without opening the App, including task titles, subject to your device lock screen and widget settings.
- Plan tier (local) — if the App offers Free and Pro tiers, your selected plan or purchase status is stored locally on the device (for example in app preferences). We do not operate a Lutarea account server for plan status in the current version.
- Diagnostics visible to Apple — if you opt in to share analytics with Apple as part of your device settings, Apple may collect crash or usage diagnostics according to Apple's policies.
3. Purposes and legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar)
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on appropriate bases such as:
- Performance of a contract / steps at your request — providing the App and its features you choose to enable.
- Legitimate interests — securing the App, preventing abuse, and improving stability, where not overridden by your rights.
- Consent — where required for optional permissions (for example calendar access), as managed by iOS.
4. Storage and retention
Data is stored locally using Apple's on-device persistence technologies (including SwiftData as implemented in the App). The widget uses a separate App Group storage area on the same device for a small JSON snapshot updated when you use the App; it does not copy your full database into the widget. We do not receive a continuous feed of your task contents on Lutarea servers because you use the App.
Retention is controlled by you: you can delete items in the App, reset data where offered, or uninstall the App (which also removes the widget). Exported JSON backups in iCloud Drive or elsewhere are files you manage yourself. If we introduce optional cloud or account sync in a future version, we will update this Policy before or when that feature becomes available.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by:
- Apple — as platform provider (App Store, device security, WidgetKit, App Groups, iCloud Drive for optional JSON backups, and system frameworks such as EventKit where you grant permission).
- Law and safety — if we are legally required to disclose information, or to protect rights and safety, subject to applicable law.
6. International transfers
Because core App data stays on your device in the current version, international transfer issues mainly arise if you choose to store exported backups in a cloud service you use, or if Apple processes diagnostics you share with Apple under your device settings. Those services are governed by their own terms.
7. Security
The App supports optional passcode and biometric lock and optional privacy cover when switching apps. You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict, port, or object to certain processing of your personal data. Many requests can be fulfilled directly in the App (including deletion of content and exported files you control). You may also contact us using the email below.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required in your jurisdiction. Do not use the App for children below that age without appropriate parental authority and compliance with local rules.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will adjust the "Last updated" date above. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
